Nahoon Sports Precinct our friend or foe?

Tuesday, August 5th, 2008

Having attended the meeting and listening to all the aurguments mainly against the “development” of these areas from residents at the meeting I found it quite motivating as a Nahoon resident to be a part of such a passionate and active suburban community.
It became obvious early in the evening that the council and thier representatives have instilled very little trust in the minds of the ratepayers in this area , primarily driven by an alledged bulldozing of a land aquisition by what some claim to have been more private treaty rather than the acclaimed public one. ( the surfers marathon parking area adjacent from the old dolphin site)
As a long time Nahoon beach local surfer , fisherman and more recently resident and business owner , I am just as perplexed by the seemingly broad or almost non decriptive proposal that is due to be scoped and evaluated by the end of Dec 2008 ( another major concern from most ratepayers at the meeting , was what is the rush?)

Nahoon residents must put thier weight behind any positive developemnts to attract tourists to our Suburb , with positive rehabilitation of these naturally sensitive areas , and equally as much weight behind averting any developments that will bring harm to our natural resources and affect the values of our properties and investments in this special suburb. The main thing is , get involved , register on the site at www.intengu.co.za/nahoon.html and have a say in your rates money allocation.
