SCOPE

This Privacy Policy has been written to describe to you how we handle your personal information for our services on www.eastlondon.org.za It applies to all of Andrew Keet’s websites where this policy appears in the footer of the page (these will be referred to as “the sites”). Some of Andrew Keet’s websites may be governed by separate privacy policies, as dictated by independent clients for whom the websites were created. The policy that applies on any of our domains or subdomains is the policy that appears in the footer of each respective website.

You accept the Privacy Policy and the Terms of Use in registration, which obligates you to consent to our collection, storage, use and disclosure of your personal information as described in this Privacy Policy.

Upon your registration with East London Classifieds, you have to provide us with certain personal information. You also consent to the transfer and storage of that information to our servers, which are located in the United States.

Please do not publish any personal information in your classified ads, as this will be visible to everyone that browses the classifieds. Rather, include these in your personal registration, where they will be kept private.

2. USAGE OF PERSONAL INFORMATION

When collecting your personal information, our goal is to provide you with a safe, efficient, and customised online buying and selling experience. Be registering with Port Elizabeth Classifieds, you agree to allow us to use your personal information to:

• · Resolve possible disputes, collect outstanding fees, and solve problems
• · Prevent forbidden or illegal activities
• · Enforce our Terms of Use
• · Customise, gauge, and improve our services
• · Keep the sites’ content and layout current and appealing

3. DISCLOSURE OF PERSONAL INFORMATION

East London Classifieds may disclose certain personal information in response to legal requirements, to enforce our policies, to respond to claims that a particular listing or other content violates the rights of others, or to protect the rights, property, or safety of ourselves and others’.

We might also need to share your personal information with:

• · Other third parties to whom you unambiguously ask us to send your information; or about whom you are otherwise notified and consent to when using a specific service.

4. USERNAME-SPECIFIC ACTIVITY

Your unique username is displayed throughout the East London Classifieds website. Therefore, all other users on the site are able to see it and all of your activities on the website will be traceable to your username. Other users and browsers can see adverts that you have posted, your feedback, ratings, etc… If necessary, notices will be sent to other community members regarding any suspicious behaviour and policy violations on the site. These notices will refer to username(s) and specific items. So, if you associate your personal name with your username, the people to whom you have revealed your name to will be able to identify your online activities personally.

5. USING INFORMATION FROM EAST LONDON CLASSIFIEDS

All of our sites enable you, as the user, to share personal information in order to complete necessary transactions. We urge you to disclose your privacy practices and, in turn, respect the privacy of other users. We are not able to guarantee the privacy or security of your information. Therefore, we encourage you to assess the privacy and security policies of your trading partner before you enter into a transaction with or disclose your personal information to them.

To help protect your privacy, we only allow limited access to the contact details of other users. When a transaction needs to occur, users may have access to one other’s name, user ID, email address, and other media of contact. Whatever the case, you must give other users an opportunity to remove themselves from your database and to review what information you have collected about them.

By registering on our site, you agree to use the information of other users only for:

7. NO SPAM, SPYWARE OR SPOOFING

We do not tolerate spam and we do not expect our users to either. Ensure that you have set your East London Classifieds notification preferences correctly so that we communicate with you in your preferred methods. You are not licensed to add other East London Classifieds users, even if they have disclosed their contact details to you, to your mail list without their express consent. To report spam or spoof emails related to East London Classifieds, please inform us via the Contact Us page.

No one may use our communication tools to send spam or other content that would violate our Terms of Use. We do not rent or sell the email addresses of our users.

8. ACCOUNT PROTECTION

To protect your account, be sure to use unique numbers, letters, and characters for your password. Do not disclose your password to anyone. If you do share your password or any of the personal information on your account, remember that you are then accountable for all actions taken in the name of your account. If someone else obtains your password, you may lose control of your personal information and might possibly be subject to legally binding actions taken on your behalf by an external party. Therefore, if the integrity of your password has been compromised in any way, you should notify us and change your password immediately.

9. ACCESSING, REVIEWING AND CHANGING OF PERSONAL INFORMATION

Almost all of your personal information can be edited simply by logging into the website. We are not likely to modify your personal information because it is very difficult to confirm your identity remotely. As soon as your personal information changes, you should change it on your profile.

Once you have published a public posting, you might not be able to edit or delete it. If you request us to do so, we will close your account and remove your personal information from view as soon as is reasonably possible. Our decision to do so will be based on your account activity and in accordance with applicable laws.

For various reasons, we will need to retain personal information from closed accounts. These reasons include preventing fraud, collecting outstanding fees, resolving disputes, troubleshooting problems, assisting with investigations, enforcing our Terms of Use, and taking other actions permitted by law.

10. SECURITY

The information with which you provide us is stored on our servers, which are situated located in Germany. We treat data and information as an asset that needs to be protected. Therefore, we use tools to protect your personal information against unauthorised access and disclosure, such as encryption, passwords, physical security, etc… However, third parties may illegally intercept or access transmissions or private communications, while certain users may abuse or misuse your information (which they collect from the website). So, although we work very hard to protect your privacy, we cannot and do not promise that your personal information or private communications will always be private.

Unless otherwise expressly included in this Privacy Policy, this document only addresses the use and disclosure of information that we collect from you. If you choose to reveal your information to others on the Internet, different rules will apply to their use or disclosure of the information you provide to them. Since East London Classifieds does not control the privacy policies of third parties, you are personally subject to the privacy policies of those third parties. You are urged to find out more about the third parties’ policies before you disclose your personal information.

12. GENERAL

We have the right to amend this Privacy Policy at any time. In this event, we will post the amended terms on the East London Classifieds website. All amended terms will automatically take effect 30 days after they are initially posted on the site. We will also notify you of the amendments in accordance with your Notification Preferences.
